About Janet...

Janet Hayes is a teacher and contemporary ceramic artist who lives in North Haven, Connecticut with her husband and two Norwegian Elkhounds. Her current interests include sculpture (cast bronze), street photography, watercolor painting, shelter dogs (Norwegian Elkhound and Elkhound mixes), and reading graphic novels.

She was born in Buffalo, New York and raised in Bradenton, Florida.

Janet earned a bachelor’s degree in Zoology (1973) and in Fine Art (1975) from the University of South Florida. She studied sculpture with Leslie Posey in Sarasota, Florida. She earned a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Wesleyan University in 2012. Currently Janet is a full-time professor at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, CT.

Her work experience includes work as an assistant for an entomologist, graphic design, medical and surgical photography, media development, and teaching graphics and fine art at the college level.
